ABOUT ME
My name is Evie, I’m a mother to many things in my community but my most important; 2 big babies (Edson & Emmitt) and 3 early births (miscarriages). I'm a bachelor's degree-qualified Early Childhood professional. Though my intentions are to stay true to supporting families and children to truly live, learn and grow within the comfort of their village.

I experienced the death of a loved one; my son. He's the one who keeps me most passionate about what I do.
I’ve been supporting parents raising their babies since I was young, through kindy work and after-hours in-home support. From a small age, I knew I would be an advocate for children, families and raising babies in a safe and supportive environment (which is usually the family home).
The more I grow the more I realise the important role our village plays in raising our young, particularly in relation to birth, and how this greatly affects us and our children in such tremendous ways.

Because of the faster-paced living, many women are doubting their instincts, their bodies, and their abilities, such as the sacred and instinctive way to birth children.

Conception, childbearing, birth, postpartum, child rearing, deep conversations, nourishment, nature, the outdoors, families, and raising children to be THEM matters the most to me.

I'm that registered teacher who doesn't quite align with the general schooling system as I recognise too many young children and families are undervalued. We know there are many ways to continue learning and teaching our children. For example, embracing mixed age experiences in a supportive and nurturing way.
I also have a dedicated outdoor space myself to embrace children's messy and natural play as I understand not everyone has the space and connections for this. This area includes a handmade outdoor play kitchen with teapots etc, sand, worms, chickens, and more, including a small range of edible plants and flowers.

MY 'WORK'
It's hard to call it work when I feel it's so much more. It's a calling, something I truly align with and enjoy. Serving other mothers and seeing their children and families follow their dreams fills my heart too.
My purpose and WHY ~ well if I'm straight to the point life is short for many. I see family values as a beautiful part of life to be reclaimed. Parenthood, children, and birth I believe are sacred parts of life that deserve to be honoured and respected. I hope to help raise our children with the support of our village. Especially in the comfort of the family home.

I also understand the bereavement world, sadly due to unexpectedly losing my youngest son, Emmitt Malatai in October 2021.

I am the creator of Home Birth Baskets. These are not-for-profit unique gifts designed with the help of my local village. We call these baskets emmittsbirthingbasketsoflove and they are put together with the utmost love and intentions for the birth journey. Each basket is created with locally produced goods or from local families following their passions. No basket is too big or too small

Its hard to define my work because there are so many areas I can touch base on. So feel free to make a request or let me tend freely to your sacred space and family.
Whatever it is, I aim to see you deeply lost in the awe of life. If you think I may be the one to support you in getting deeper into life with children and sustainabilty, please reach out. I do not have minimum hours for a reason. I understand sometimes you just need a little help around dinner time to get settled, and that's what I'm here for!
So while I'm not a photographer I do enjoy taking photographs of sacred moments to look back on,
I'm not a chef but I'm quite good at making nourishing meals,
I'm no cleaner but I know how to tidy up,
I am a doula but more a birthkeeper. A holder of sacred space, the birth space.
While I hold teacher registration I don't teach in a systematic manner.

If you are unsure of what I can support you with lets meet for a chat, We can see if we align and how I can best support you on your journey.
